Idyllically situated within walking distance of a river, paths through ancient
woodland and a cycleway which now runs as far as Bath
we are nestled in a pretty hamlet in the countryside a mile from
the medieval market town of Frome. Dating back to 685 as a centre of
the wool trade, Frome is now a hub of 'cool culture' according to The Guardian,
with its choice of independent and vintage shops on Catherine Hill, farmers'
and flea markets in the iconic Cheese and Grain Market Yard (Click Here),
ancient cobbled streets, pubs and coffee shops. On the first Sunday of the month, the town centre is transformed into a vibrant street fair
and market (Click Here) which is not to be missed.
The historic village of Mells is a 2 mile stroll along the beautiful wooded valley, with its award winning shop, cafe, walled garden tea room and 15th century Talbot Inn serving seasonal British food. Orchardleigh golf course is a 3 minute drive away.
Hapsford Farm Cottage also makes ideal accommodation for Soho House members when nearby Babington House is full and for guests attending weddings there. We are also very handy for visitors to the stunning Hauser & Wirth Somerset international art gallery in Bruton. Fans of the Glastonbury Festival might want to consider exchanging camping in the mud for a luxurious VI spring bed!
Just 2 hours from London, and 50 minutes from Bristol airport, we are close to Longleat (15 mins), Hauser and Wirth, Bruton (20 mins), Bath (30 mins), Wells and Glastonbury (35 mins), Stonehenge (40 mins), Salisbury (45 mins) and Avebury (55mins). We also offer a perfect setting for exploring superb National Trust properties and gardens such as Stourhead, Iford, Tyntesfield, Montacute House, Barrington Court and Tintinhull. The stunning beaches of the Dorset Jurassic coast are within 90 minutes drive. Weymouth, with its blue flag family friendly sandy beach is an easy direct train ride away.
